Flying By

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  It was hubby's birthday a week before christmas so I thought it was about time that I showed you one of the cards that I made for him.  He really loves aeroplanes so this was just perfect.  In his younger days he did take and pass his private pilots licence but it is just got too expensive for him to continue flying.  One regret he has is that he never managed to take me as a passenger with him.  Maybe one day he can retake his exams and get in the air again.  Anyway this card was just perfect for him.

I used a CD from Kraftyhands called Vintage Transport which can be found here.  I printed out the pyramage topper, backing paper, sentiment and paper bow from the CD. I used kraft card to matt the background paper.  Around the main image I added some stickles.  The letters for the word DAD were die cut and then some stickles added.  A brad on the bow and some card candi finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you all think.  Take care out there as there are various severe weather reports around the country at the moment.  It is pretty windy and cold here at the moment.

Thank You

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  Hubby was back to work today so I have had a PJ and crafty day.  So nice to be able to make something other than christmas cards.  Most of the projects I worked on can't be shared yet but I did do this little Thank You card using products from Pink Gem Designs.

I wanted to use the daisy border image and a background paper scene.  So I used Word on my computer to merge the images together.  After mounting onto light blue coredinations I added some lace across the centre.  The butterfly is a wooden one that has been in my stash for several months.  I found a suitable sentiment and then added stickles around the main image, the sentiment and to the centres of the flowers.  A little flourish of pearls to the butterfly finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.

An Elegant Christmas Card

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and have been enjoying the festive season.  We have not long got back from spending a couple of days with my sister and her family.  We had a great time but I have eaten and drank far too much.  Hubby is back at work tomorrow so looking forward to spending a bit of crafty time.

Just popping by to post a christmas card that I made for my youngest daughter to give to her Nan.

The card blank is a fold back style that I got from the NEC.  The papers and image were in my christmas stash and I have had them for about three years.  I matted and layered using silver mirror card.  Down both sides I added some organza ribbon and card candi.  I also added an organza bow and card candi to the front of the card.  A dazzler added to the bow and some gems and stickles around the sentiment finished the card.  I also added some glamour dust glitter to the image.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to reading all your comments.  Going to have a restful evening now catching up on some commenting.

Happy Christmas Mum

Hi Folks
Hope you all had a great Christmas Day.  We were very lucky in our household and Santa brought lots of lovely pressies.  Hubby bought me a new coat and some perfume that I wanted and I got some lovely crafty bits from my Mum.  But my best moment was when my youngest daughter was given her main pressie from hubby and me.  She had asked for an ipad mini and we agreed that we would give her some money towards one.  But we decided to actually buy her one and when she opened the present she cried and then I cried.  She could not believe that we had gone and bought her one.  She was so grateful and it was a very special moment for us all.

Anyway I just wanted to pop by and share my Mum's christmas card that I made for her.  I could not post it before as my Mum is into crafting too and regularly checks my blog.

I created a christmas wreath using my Spellbinders poinsettia die and some holly and mistletoe die cuts.  I have had the die cuts a couple of years at least.  I think they came from Create and Craft originally.  The wreath was mounted onto Centura Pearl cardstock and then onto gold mirror card.  The corners are also from Spellbinders.  After I had mounted the wreath I sprayed it with some perfect pearls and added some glitter so it looks nice and shimmery and sparkly.  The sentiment was done on the computer and cut out using another of my dies.  A few dazzlers from the Hobby House added to the flowers and the bow finished the card off nicely.

I was really pleased with how it turned out and Mum loved it.  Thanks for popping by and hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

O Christmas Tree

Hi Folks
An early post for me today but as I have been up since five o'clock I thought I would make the most of my time.  My youngest daughter is currently working at Next and they are getting all their stock ready for their big sale on Boxing Day.  As they can't do this while the shop is open it means a few late nights and early mornings.  She worked till 10.00pm last night and was starting again at 6.00am this morning.  As there are no buses running here at that time I got the taxi driver job.  Think an afternoon nap may be in order today lol.

I have now finished all my christmas cards and looking forward to working on something other than christmas.  I still have a few to post starting with this one.

I used a lovely decoupage stamp from Imagination Crafts for this card.  The image was stamped onto white card and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then coloured the image using mica powders (also available from Imagination Crafts) before adding some glitter to the trees and some liquid pearls as snow. The mica looks so shimmery in real life. The image was mounted onto gold card and then onto some mulberry paper.  I have had the mulberry paper in my stash for a couple of years and love the effect it gives when torn.  Around the outside of the card I used a little stamp that is in the decoupage set.  For embellishments I added some gold gems, a bow and dazzler and a little sentiment.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing what you all think.  Off now to catch up on some commenting.

Working with sketches at The Crafting Cafe

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and ready for christmas.  I still have a few pressies to wrap and the food shopping to do at the weekend.  But as Friday is my last day at work until the New Year I will have a bit of time left for those last minute jobs.

I am popping by today with some inspiration for our current challenge over at The Crafting Cafe.  Our theme for the month of December is to
Use a sketch

Our sponsor for this month is the lovely Nikki (who keeps us all organised) and the winner will receive some crafting goodies.  Just pop over to The Crafting Cafe for full details and to check out the fab choice of sketches you can use.  Just let us know what sketch you have used when you enter.

Here is my inspiration project.

My daughter asked me for a birthday card for one of her friends.  This is what I came up with using one of the sketches for the challenge as my starting point.  The cupcake topper has been  lurking at the bottom of my stash box for a couple of years so thought it was time to use it lol.  The papers are from Papermania and I have used black card and glitter card for the matting and layering.  Lots of pink and sparkle were the order of the day for this card.

Thanks for popping by and you still have until the end of December to enter the challenge.  Just pop over to The Crafting Cafe to submit your entry.

Imagination Crafts Midway Inspiration

Hi Folks
Well only 10 days until the big guy arrives.  Can't believe how the time is flying by.  Just a few more christmas cards to make and will then be finished for this year.  I really must start earlier next year.

Today it's time for a little midway inspiration for our challenge over at Imagination Crafts Challenges.  Our theme for this month is
Merry Christmas

Don't forget that if you enter a creation using Imagination Crafts products you could win a £40 gift voucher to spend at Imagination Crafts.

Here is my inspiration project.

I made a christmas card using a lovely decoupage stamp set available here at Imagination Crafts.  I stamped the main image onto acetate and used different colours of sparkle medium on the reverse.  I created the background by using one of the little stamps in the stamp set.  I just randomly stamped the image over the gold card.  The gold card was then matted onto red and black card.  I then went around the edge of the gold card with stardust stickles.  The sentiment is also in the stamp set.  I added a lovely red organza bow and finished the bow with some large red pearls.

Thanks for popping by and for more inspiration just pop over to the Imagination Crafts Challenge blog.  The design team ladies have been very busy and created some beautiful projects.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Forever Friends Christmas

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and having a good week.  Bit of a crazy week at work so looking forward to the weekend.

I have done all of my general christmas cards for friends and am now working on my special ones for family.  Here is the card that I have done for my daughter and her boyfriend.

I used a Forever Friends topper that I have had since last christmas lol.  I die cut a scalloped oval out of kraft card to mount the topper onto and added loads of gems around the outside.  The papers were oddments from my christmas paper box.  The snowflake has been die cut and embossed with holographic embossing powder, really sparkly in real life.  Some red ribbon, a bow and some paper trees with pearls added finished the card.  The sentiment was done on the computer.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  Enjoy the rest of your week and hopefully be back soon.

Mass Production

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  I had a lovely weekend in Birmingham.  Managed to get all the christmas presents bought.  Just got the mammoth job of wrapping them up now lol.  After shopping all day on Saturday we spent the evening strolling through the German market enjoying some mulled wine.  It was a lovely evening and a well deserved treat after trudging round all the shops.

Today I have been in my crafty room as I needed to mass produce some christmas cards.  This is the design that I came up with and I made 24 of these today.

This christmas tree is one of my favourite christmas stamps that I have.  It was actually part of a free stamp set from Hot Off The Press.  It came with a crafting magazine about 3 or 4 years ago.  I stamped the christmas tree image using versamark and then embossed using silver embossing powder.  For the different layers I used coredinations cardstock and kraft card.  I lightly went around the edge of the image panel with distress ink and then stickles, for a bit of sparkle.  I added some liquid pearls which looks a bit like snow.  A sentiment, a bow and some doodling on the kraft card finished it off.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  I apologise if I haven't been round to visit all your blogs just recently.  With all the preparations for christmas time is very precious at the moment.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

I used the pre coloured digi image and cut it out using one of my dies.  I simply added some gems and liquid pearls around the die cut and the image.  I used one of my shaped cards and for the background I used some design paper from Papermania that had little snowflakes embossed on it.  I used some distress ink to darken the edges.  The fir trees at the bottom is a die from Marianne design.  I added a little puched snowflake at the top and some more gems and a little bow.

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Lothian Crafts Online.  Our theme for the month of December is
Christmas using your dies

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Lothian Crafts Online blog to upload your entry.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Imagination Crafts December Challenge

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend.  I spent a busy afternoon yesterday in my crafty room churning out some more christmas cards and today we are putting up the christmas tree.  The big day will be here before we know it lol.

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Imagination Crafts Challenges.  Our theme for this month is
Merry Christmas

You are free to enter with any project you like and you do not have to use Imagination Crafts products.  However, if you do use Imagination Crafts products you will be entered into a random draw to win a £40 gift voucher for Imagination Crafts.

Here is my inspiration project.

Imagination Crafts products used:
MDF frame and charm set
Sparkle Medium
Christmas Trio stencil
Acrylic paint
these products are all available here

I painted the MDF frame with acrylic paint and left to dry.  Once dry I used the christmas trio stencil and sparkle medium.  After it was dry I went over lightly with red pan pastel.  I added an MDF christmas tree and star charm that had been coated with sparkle medium.  Some little peel off stars and a bit of ribbon for a hanger finished my plaque.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Imagination Crafts Challenges to enter.  Don't forget to check out the gorgeous work of my teamies.

Winter Wonderland at A Gem of a Challenge

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  So glad that it is finally the weekend.  The christmas tree will be making its appearance on Sunday so a bit of a tidy up is in order today.  Still got lots of my christmas shopping to do but me and hubby are going to Birmingham for the weekend next week.  We are travelling down on Friday after work and coming back on Sunday.  The plan is to do the christmas shopping during the day on Saturday and then visit the christmas market in the evening to sample the mulled wines etc.  It would be so rude not to as we are there lol.  In the meantime I will be working on my christmas cards again this weekend.  Why don't I start a bit earlier in the year?

Anyway, today sees the start of a new challenge over at A Gem of a Challenge.  Our theme for this week is
Winter Wonderland

Our prize as always is

2 individual digi images
(NO SETS, PERSONALISED WATERMARKS OR SENTIMENT SETS)
of the winners choice from PINK GEM DESIGNS...

Here is my inspiration project for you.

I decided to go for a triple easel card using my Octagon template that I have had for about 3 years.  The super cute penguin images and the sentiment that I used can be found here.  I used the pre coloured images which do make for quick cards.  The backing paper and the stoppers for each part of the easel are from Papermania - again I have had these for about two years.  I kept the embellishments really simple using little bows, gems and buttons.
I think that this card will be given to one of my nephews for christmas.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to A Gem of a Challenge to enter your creation.  Don't forget to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the design team - such talented crafters.
