Make A Wish

Evening Folks

I have had a lovely break from work over the Christmas period. Alas, all good things must come to an end and work is waiting for me tomorrow.  Boo hoo!!!  But, I do have Tuesday off for New Years Day.  We are going round some friends for New Years Eve celebrations.  Both of our daughters are coming too so it will be a real treat to celebrate New Year with them.  Usually they are both out at the local pub with their friends but they wanted a more peaceful celebration this year.

Anyway, onto my card share for today.  I went through my multitude of stamps and came across this stamp that I love but have only used once before.  So I decided to have a little play.

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday challenges for the layout.  The images were stamped in black ink and I added some glamour dust for sparkle (if you click on the picture and enlarge it you will see the sparkle).  The background paper is from a First Edition paper pad.  The sentiments came with the stamp set.

Thanks for popping by and be sure to let me know what you think.  Bye for now.

Bringing Bright Birthday Wishes

Evening Folks,
I am still on my Christmas break from work at the moment.  Christmas was lovely, spending time with family but I have been enjoying a quiet couple of days.  Of course, I have spent a bit of time in my crafty room.

My Mum got me a lovely paper pad from First Edition called Blank Canvas.  It has some lovely bright papers in it so I decided to make a card using the papers.  This card is quite bright and I have used a colour that I don't use a great deal - orange.  The card will probably be for my daughters to give my Sister for her birthday on January 9th.

The stamped image is from Lily of the Valley which I coloured with promarkers.  I added some glamour dust to her little skirt for added sparkle.  The lovely papers were matted onto coredinations cardstock and I distressed all the edges.  I also inked all the edges with some distress ink.  The flowers were made using a Tim Holtz die that I have.  The centres of the flowers are some pearl brads that I have had forever.

Thanks for popping by.  Can I say welcome to my new followers.  I am honoured that you want to follow me and hope that you like what you see.  Thank you to everyone for all the lovely comments that you leave me.  I do enjoy reading each and every one.  See you again soon.

Thank You

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well and had a lovely christmas.
We had a lovely couple of days spent with the family.  Have eaten and drank far too much but I suspect that goes for a lot of us lol.  All my visitors departed this morning so I was able to get back into my crafty room this afternoon and have a play.

One of my things to do during the coming year is to try some new techniques and ideas.  So I thought I would start with this card.  I have seen cards created in magazines using paper weaving.  This is how I have created the background here.  I used some plain coredinations cardstock and some patterned paper from my scraps box.  To tidy up the edges I added some glitter paper strips to act as a border.  The centre panel is a new tonic die that my lovely Mum got me for christmas.  The sentiment is a peel off. The flower is a spellbinders die and the parchment butterfly was made by my Mum.
Overall I am pretty pleased with how this turned out and will certainly by doing the paper weaving again.  Sorry about the glare on the photo but matted it onto mirror card and this is not good for getting good glare free photos lol.

Thanks for popping by and for any comments you may leave.  Why not give paper weaving a go.  It is not too difficult but the end result is really effective.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Merry Christmas Everyone

Well, it's Christmas Eve and like most of you I am busy doing last minute preparations for the big day.  Gammon to cook, trifle to make, housework to do.
Just wanted to pop by and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I hope you all have a great time whatever you are doing.

Will just leave you with a couple of pictures of two of my cats having a fun time.

Firstly is Misha who decided that it would be a good idea to play with a roll of toilet paper.

Here is Misty who decided to find solace in the Christmas tree when I decided to vacuum the carpet.
We have three cats and they all run a mile when I get the vacuum out lol.

Will hopefully be able to pop by your blogs at some point over the christmas period.  Thank you to all my followers and each and every one of us that has passed by my blog and left me such lovely comments.  I appreciate them all and you are all wonderful and special people.

Hugs

A special Christmas card

Evening Folks,
Hope you are all getting prepared for the big day.  Me and the youngest daughter survived the trip to Tesco for the food shopping.  Although, it was touch and go up some of the aisles lol.  I find it hard to believe the amount of food some people buy.  Mind you, my daughter was keeping me on track.  She kept saying 'Mum, you are not feeding the 5000'.  I must admit I do tend to go a bit overboard but I would hate anyone to go hungry.

The card I am posting today took me an absolute age to do.  That is because it is for my Mum who is a cardmaker and scrapbooker herself.  She always does me such a lovely card and I wanted hers to be special too.  Here is what I came up with.

I used  a cute decoupage Tatty Ted image as the centrepiece.  I then used my lattice die to cut a framework out of white card which I mounted onto white glitter paper.  Another memory box die was cut out of silver card as the backing for the poinsettia flower. Some white ribbon, sentiments and silver glittered snowflakes completed the card.  Apologies for the darkness of the photo.  I needed to photograph it last night and it was just so dark.

I gave the card to my Mum today when she arrived and she loved it.  She gave me the most gorgeous card and I will take a picture of it tomorrow to show you all.

Thanks for popping by.

Traditional Christmas

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well and getting ready for the big day.  Did my last stint at work today until the New Year so I am one happy bunny at the moment.  Going to do the food shopping tomorrow with my daughter.  My Mum is arriving tomorrow and is staying with us until Thursday.  Our Christmas day will be quite a quiet one as the eldest daughter is going to her fiance's for the day.  However, on boxing day my Sister and her hubby and my nephews are coming over for a couple of days so the house will be a little less quiet lol.  I do love spending time with the family at Christmas.

Anyway, believe it or not, I think I have now finished my Christmas cards.  It will be so nice to be able to make something other than a Christmas card.  I do need to replenish my stocks of birthday cards too.

My card share today is a Christmas card I have made for my sister and her hubby.  I have kept this one more traditional.

The tree in the centre is a glittered tree done on acetate.  It is so sparkly in real life.  The papers are from Papermania and were matted and layered using mirror card.  I used some lovely ribbon with snowflakes on across the centre and kept the other embellishments quite minimal.

Thanks for popping by and hope to be back with another post before christmas.  Hopefully, I can now catch up with some commenting.

Merry Christmas

Hi Folks
Not much longer to go before the big day.  All my pressies are now bought and nearly all wrapped.  Just got a couple more special cards to make and then I am done.  Still got most of the food shopping to be done but I finish work on Friday so plenty of time over the weekend to do that.  Feeling quite chilled about it now.

Today sees the start of our last challenge for 2012 over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  The design team is having a little break and our first challenge of 2013 will start on 2nd January.
We have two fab sponsors for this challenge:
Bugaboo - 7 free digi images of the winners choice
Dustin Pike - $10 certificate

I suspect we may get lots of entries as our theme for this challenge is:

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I used a super little image from Bugaboo for my creation.

Such a cute little image that I coloured using promarkers.  I also added a little glamour dust to their little hats.  Used some glitter paper for the background.  Added a paper christmas tree with lots of pearls and gems, a sentiment and a punched out snowflake.  Some card candi in each corner brought it all together.

For more fabulous inspiration just pop on over to Penny's and check out the design team creations.  Such talented teamies.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.

Christmas for the boys

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well and have enjoyed a good weekend.  Been quite a busy one here but feel as though I am a lot closer to being ready for christmas.  Ordered the last of my presents, got some wrapping done and some more cards finished.  Can start to relax a bit now and look forward to the holiday.

I am now in the process of doing my family christmas cards and these two are for my nephews.

These were quite quick and simple cards to do. The images were some freebies in a recent copy of Creative Cardmaking. I matted them onto some glitter paper for a bit of sparkle.  I used kraft card and some plain coloured paper for the background. Some ribbon and a sentiment then finished the cards.

Thanks for popping by and for all your lovely comments that you leave.  My apologies if I do not get round to visiting you all and commenting as often as I would like at the moment.  Hopefully, when christmas is over, things will calm down and I will have more time.

DT Call

Hi Folks
Hope you are all having a good weekend.  We went out last night to celebrate my hubby’s birthday with some friends and family.  One of our local pubs was having a karaoke night so we went there.  Never been brave enough to sing myself but enjoyed listening to everyone else.  Didn’t get home until 1.30am so a good night had by all.
I just wanted to pop by and let you know that you still have time to enter the DT call over at Corrosive Challenges.  We are looking for a few new members to join our happy band.  To enter just create a project using the sketch below and upload to the challenge blog here.

As part of the design team our requirements are few.  Just create a project every fortnight and comment on entries to the challenges.
Looking forward to seeing all your lovely entries.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Quick Christmas Makes

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well.  One more day to go through at work and then it's the weekend.  Yippee.  Mind you I have got lots of crafting to try and fit in at the weekend.  Still got quite a few cards to make, more presents to buy and wrap and all the food shopping.  Oh, I do like leaving things to the last minute, lol.

This is one of my quick christmas makes that I intend making quite a few of at the weekend.

I used my snowflake embossing folder to emboss some white card.  I then cut this into little squares which I mounted onto some glitter paper.  I then raided my toppers box as I have loads of christmas toppers that I have collected over the last couple of years.  A simple sentiment and some gems finished the card.

The best thing about making this was that all the items on it are bits of old stash that I have had for ages.  I have accumulated lots of little christmas toppers and this style of card is ideal for using them.  It is also an opportunity to use up scraps of glitter paper.

Here is another one using a different topper and colour of glitter paper.

Thanks for popping by and look forward to seeing what you think.

Something New

Hi Folks
Happy Wednesday to you all.  Hope you are all well.  It's very cold here in the UK at the moment.  I am writing this before I head out for work and I am not looking forward to stepping outside into the cold.  But it is our christmas lunch today at work so a short working day.

Today also sees the start of a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  Our theme this week is SOMETHING NEW.  Now this could be using something new to you on your creation or creating a card for something new (baby, house, job).  The choice is yours, just make sure you tell us in your post what is new about your creation.

For all the information about our fab sponsors this week and to see the inspiration from the design team just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.

We are also having a mini DT call as Mansi and Chrizette have unfortunately had to step down from the design team.  So if you fancy joining a friendly group of crafters just enter the challenge and add DT after your name.

I have used a super image from one of our sponsors, Crafty Sentiments.

I went with the theme by using new papers and the little die cut corners.  In real life this is a super shade of purple and the papers have a lovely lavender tone.  But it is just so difficult to get a good photo at the moment. I also went with a Thank You as a change from a christmas card.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your fab creations.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Great Impressions - Anything goes
The Paper Shelter - 2 of something (die cut corners)
Sweet Stampin - Dies and/or punches

Design Team Call at Corrosive Challeges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and have been enjoying your weekend.  I have been busy in my crafty space trying to get all my christmas cards done.  Still got a way to go but getting there.  I must admit I will look forward to being able to create something that is not a christmas card.
My apologies for not getting round to visit you all as often as I would like at the moment.  This close to christmas I am so busy (as are we all) with preparations.  But I will be along to visit whenever I can find a few minutes to spare.

This month at Corrosive Challenges we do not have a challenge for you.  However, we are holding a design team call.  Our lovely team member Kathy has come up with a little sketch.  All you need to do is create something using the sketch and upload it to the challenge blog.

Our requirements are few, you just need to be able to create a project once a fortnight and comment on entries (we have a comment rota so you don't have to comment on all the entries - unless you want to of course).

Anyway, here is the fab sketch and my interpretation of it.

I used some papers that came free with Creative Cardmaking magazine.  The centre frame was also from the same magazine and I just added the stamped sentiment.  Silver mirror card was used for all the matting and I kept the embellishments quite simple.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to get those entries in for the design team call.  Just pop over to here to upload your entry.  You have until the end of December to enter.  I am really looking forward to having a look round all your blogs.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Hooked on Craft - Christmas
Natalie and Amy - Winter wishes
Cards Galore - Christmas
Papertake - Anything goes

Traditional Christmas Card - finally

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend.  I have managed to get some of my christmas shopping done but still have quite a few bits to get.  Should get that done during the next week.  Still have a few cards to make but a crafty day tomorrow should help.

Christmas has come early for me as hubby has got me a new laptop.  He gave it to me on Wednesday evening and I have been trying to get to grips with it since then.  It is lovely and has Windows 8 on it.  I think he was getting a bit fed up of me shouting and swearing at my old one.

Anyway, this card was going to be blogged last night.  But after uploading the photo to my new laptop I realised that I had no photo editing software.  On my old one I used the basic Windows photo editing, very basic but it did me.  However, I could not find anything on my new laptop.  So off I went into cyberland to download some free photo editing software.  I finally managed to download Picasa 3.  But after doing all that  and figuring out how to use it, it was then time for bed.

By the way, if anyone does know of a free photo editing package that I can download then can you let me know.  Picasa 3 seems okay but not sure if there is something that is easier or better out there.

Anyway, finally here is my traditional christmas card.  This card is going to one of my hubby's Aunties for christmas.

I used some free papers and an image from a recent copy of Creative Cardmaking magazine.  All of the matting was done onto silver mirror card.  I used some ribbon down the left hand side and embellished with some snowflakes.  The large snowflake was done using a spellbinders die and the smaller snowflakes were a punch.  The little bell in the top corner is a wooden embellishment that I glittered.  I then cut a poinsettia using another spellbinders die for the bottom corner.  I added some glitter to it for a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for popping by and hope you all have a good weekend.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Robyns Fetish - Tic, Tac, Toe (red and green, die cut, glitter)

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Hi Folks
Just popping by, on this cold and gloomy Wednesday, to let you know about the new challenge starting today over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.

We have four sponsors for this challenge:
Disdigidownloads - $10 voucher
Digital Delights - $5 voucher
Digi My World - $10 voucher
Sassy Studio Designs - 4 digi images of winners choice

This week our theme is a nice and easy and one that you all love:

Anything Goes

I used a lovely image from Sassy Studio to create a little christmas tag.

I coloured the image using promarkers and then cut it out.  I added some present embellishments to make it appear as if she is sitting among all the presents.  As it was a gift tag I was able to raid my scraps box for the background paper.

Thanks for popping by and for more inspiration just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges and check out what the design team have come up with.  Some fab creations.  I am looking forward to seeing all your entries so pop over and join in.

Bring out the baubles

Evening Folks
I did intend posting this card yesterday evening but was shattered after our weekend away so ended up having an early night.
We spent a lovely weekend in Manchester with our youngest daughter.  We did a bit of christmas shopping during the day at the Trafford Centre.  In the evening we went into the centre to wander through the  christmas market.  I can certainly recommend the hot spiced cider and hot chocolate with Baileys.  Very warming on a cold chilly night.  All in all we had a super weekend and only another week and a half before my daughter is home for christmas.  Good times.

Anyway, here is my card share for today.

I decided to have a go with my Flitterglu and gilding flakes.  I chose a stamp from Papermania that I bought last year.  I wasn't sure if the stamp was going to work as I thought it may have had too much detail.  But I followed the instructions for using the flitterglu and it came out a treat.  I did colour the holly at the top with some glittery pens that I have got and added some stickles for the berries.  Kept the rest of the card quite simple as I did not want to detract from the image.  I think the gilding flakes has given it a vintage feel.  If you click on the photo you can really see how the gilding flakes have picked up the detail from the stamp.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  I am watching the Royal Variety performance at the moment and will attempt to do some commenting at the same time.  Wish me luck lol.

Just wanted to stop by and share some exciting news with you.  I have been invited to join The Forever Friends fortnightly challenge design team.

I do love the Forever Friends images and I am thrilled to be on the team.  My first challenge will go live on December 10th so keep a look out for that.
In the meantime, the monthly giveaway for December has been announced.  Just click here to check it out and join in.
Will hopefully be back later to share another christmas card with you.
