Let's Ink It Up

Hi Folks
What a wonderful week of weather we have had here in the UK.  Bright sunshine and lovely blue skies.  Typically that has all changed now the weekend is here. Very dull and overcast here and I dare say we may have some rain by the end of the day.
Today sees the start of a new monthly challenge over at Let's Ink It Up.  We had some wonderful entries for our last challenge.  Thank you all very much and hope that you will get involved in the fun this month.
Our sponsor for this challenge is My Creative Classroom who are offering our winner a free seat to any My Creative Classroom classes.  If you want to know more just click on the link or pop over to LIIU.

So what is the challenge I hear you asking.  Well, our theme for this month is:
Distressing
Just create a project using a stamped image (no digi images allowed) and lots of distressing.
Here is the card I created:

As you can see I went a bit wild with the distressing.  The stamp is from Hero Arts and is so versatile as the sentiment part is left blank for you to put your own sentiment into.  It can therefore be used for all sorts of occasions.  The papers are from First Edition and I just love them.  I cut some little butterflies with one of my Marianne dies and added a torn distressed flower that I made.

My fellow team members have created some stunning projects so why not pop over to LIIU and take a look.
The challenge runs until the 29th April so you have plenty of time to submit your entry.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Papertake - use sketch
Divas By Design - Stamp something
Simon Says - Anything goes
Truly Scrumptious - Use lace

Thanks for popping by.
Take care

Penny's Easter Challenge

Hi Folks
It's time for a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  This last fortnight sure has gone by so quickly and can't believe that it is only two weeks till Easter.  Which leads me on nicely to the theme of this challenge which is 'Happy Easter'.  We have three great sponsors this time around, Limited Runs, Digi My World and Digi Darla.
I used this little rabbit image from Limited Runs called Bunny Hole.  Isn't it so cute?

I tried to give a bit of a fur effect to the colouring of the rabbit using promarkers and prisma pencils.  Not sure you can see it that clearly here but does look quite effective.  Still need a bit more practice though.  I am afraid the photo does not really show the lovely colours in the papers, lovely blues, greens, pinks and browns.
Why not pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges and have a go.  Check out the rest of the creations from the design team.  You have two weeks to enter and I am looking forward to seeing all your creations.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Moving Along With The Times - Easter Wishes
Paperplay - Spring Colours
Delightful Challenges - Easter Treats
Crafty Catz - Spring is in the air
Anything Goes - Get ready for Easter
Stampin For The Weekend - Anything goes
Sweet Stampin - Anything goes
Sentimental Sundays - Easter/Spring
Creative Card Crew - Spring
Crafty Sentiments - Easter
Ladybug Crafts Ink - Spots and stripes
Top Tip Tuesday - Easter and/or animals
Scrapbook Sisters - Easter
The Paper Shelter - Easter

Thanks for popping by.

Anyone for Cake

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well today.  Blimey, hasn't the weekend gone quickly. Can't believe it's Monday tomorrow and back to work.  It has been a beautiful weekend though with lots of sunshine.  Let's hope it decides to stick around for a while.
Not so sure I enjoyed losing an hour last night when the clocks went forward but certainly enjoyed it today when it got darker later.  Hubby actually got out and mowed the lawn today - the first time this year.  It was getting very long and it was hard going but looks so much better now.  I suppose that was the sign for me to get out this week and do some weeding lol.
Anyway, here is a little easel card that I have made for my birthday box.  I am trying to use up some of the numerous toppers that I have had lying around for months.

The cupcake topper is by Dovecraft and I must have had it about 18 months now.  It came as part of a pad of cupcake toppers so got several more left lol.  All the papers are either Papermania or Dovecraft.  I die cut the ovals for the cupcake to sit on.  The sentiment at the bottom is from a Creative Expressions stamp plate which features cupcakes.  I die cut some fancy pieces from one of my Spellbinders sets to add to either side of the sentiment.  Finishing touches were the brown organza ribbon, some flowers from my stash, pearls and a couple of little flower charms (hanging from the bow).

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says - Bingo (1d  flowers, pearls, charms)
CES Challenges - photo inspiration
Crafty Creations - photo inspiration
Stamp N Doodle - Circles and/or ovals
Whimsy Stamps - Anything goes
Pixie Dust Studio - Favourite things (pearls, flowers, pink)
Cute Card Thursday - Anything goes
Totally Gorjuss - Spots and Stripes
Scrapbook Sisters - Anything goes

Thanks for popping by and thank you for all your lovely comments.  I do enjoy reading them.
Take care

Let's Go Vintage

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well.  Finally got round to doing some crafting after work today.  This week has been quite busy with work and one thing or another so crafting has been practically non existent.  But Saturday tomorrow and no work so hoping to spend a few hours in my crafty room.

I checked my calendar today and I have no more relative or friends cards due until the middle of May.  At last a bit of breathing space.  An opportunity to maybe try a few new things or even (dare I say it) do a few christmas cards.

Anyway, enough of this rambling and onto the card I made this evening.  I decided to have a go at vintage and combine it with some distressing.  Well, the elements on this card have been well and truly distressed.

All of the card and paper used on this card has been torn and then further distressed using my distress tool.  The card is coredinations and the patterned papers are all Papermania.  I also inked all the edges using Tim Holtz distress ink.  The little piece of kraft card is from a Tim Holtz pad.  I deliberately cut out a piece that mentioned dressmaking.  The topper is a Kanban one that I have had for such a long time.  Was great to actually use it.  For finishing touches I added some lace, vintage ribbon, pearls and a couple of decorative pins.  I also die cut some leaves out of the coredinations and made a couple of rolled roses.

Vintage is not a style that I find particularly easy.  I am never really sure whether I have achieved a vintage look or just a nice looking card.  So will let you be the judge on whether I have pulled it off or not with this card.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
The Crafty Pad - The perfect pair (gems, roses, leaves)
Scrapbook Sisters - Anything goes
Creative Inspirations - Anything goes
Divas By Design - Distressing
Bunny Zoes - Shabby Chic/Vintage
Creative Card Crew - Vintage

Thanks for popping by and hope to see you again soon.
Take care

Forever Friends Lots of Love

Hi Folks
Me again with my second post for today.
This time a card that I made for my daughters to give my Mum.

I used a cute Forever Friends image which I decoupaged onto white card.  This was then matted onto black card and formed the topper complete with gems.  I used papers from Forever Friends black and gold collection, all matted onto black cardstock.  The ribbon and tissue flower were all from my stash.
Sorry about the glare on the photo but not so easy to get a decent photo of shiny paper lol.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Sketch and Stash - use sketch and stash (new stash - decoupage image, old stash - papers, flower, ribbon)
Forever Friends fortnight challenge - 3d/decoupage
Delightful Challenges - Someone special
Love to Create - Anything goes
Kaboodle Doodles - How cute is that
Cute Card Thursday - Happy Birthday

Thanks for popping by and see you all soon.

Happy Birthday Dear Mummy

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well.  What a glorious day it has been, bright sunshine and blue skies.  Just a pity I had to spend it at work lol.  Still I think all the sunshine brought out everyone's good side so lots of laughs today and everyone in a good mood.
I was also delighted to win the last challenge over at the Stamping Boutique with my gold 50th Wedding Anniversary card.  I get to choose 3 images from their on line store as my prize.  Thank you to the Stamping Boutique.
Anyway, onto today's offering for you.  On Sunday it was Mothers Day here in the UK but it was also my Mum's birthday.  Here is the card I made for her.  As my Mum also makes cards I just decided to throw all the things she loves (and I love) at it, literally.

The topper is a lovely stamp from Hero Arts.  I stamped and then embossed it with clear embossing powder (one of my favourite techniques).  I then used some pearl acrylic paint (Adirondack paint dabber) and lightly applied this over the stamp using cling film.  I then applied distress ink.  In the right light it gives a lovely pearly background.
The papers were a combination of papermania (yellow gingham) and First Edition Dreamcatcher (butterfly paper at the bottom).  Across the centre I used some wide satin cream ribbon and some purple organza.  The roses are from Hobbycraft and I added some glitter to them for sparkle.  Die cut some leaves and butterflies which I also glittered.  Added one of my lovely metal corners and some pins to the bow.
Am pleased to report that Mum really loved the card.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Squiggle Stamps - Birthday bash
Jellypark - Favourite technique or product (stamping, embossing and using glitter)
Top Tip Tuesday - Girly Creation/Mothers Day
Truly Scrumptious - Lilac, lemon and cream
Moving Along With the Times - Special Lady
Crafty Ribbons - Birthday
Pan Pastel - Add a Flower
Sentimental Sundays - Add some metal
Love to Create - Anything goes
Pollycraft - Check it out
Delightful Challenges - Someone special
Papertake - Bingo (Die cuts, free, glitter)

Thanks for popping by and hope to see you again soon.  Thanks also to my lovely followers (old and new) for your wonderful comments and inspiration.
Take care

Easter Greetings from Dream Valley

Afternoon Everyone
Over at Dream Valley Challenges today sees the start of a new challenge.  The challenge for this fortnight is Easter.  Bit early I know but nothing like getting a head start.
We have two great sponsors for this challenge.
Meljen Designs who are offering 4 digi images from their store and Mulberry Crafts who are offering a goody bag.
I used a image from Meljen designs to create my Easter card.

I used promarkers to colour the image and then cut it out using one of my scalloped dies.  I didn't want to go too overboard with embellishments so just used some ribbon, a bow and some Easter stickers that I had.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the inside of the card and the dimension:

So what are you waiting for.  Why not pop over to Dream Valley for some more inspiration from the talented design team.  Don't forget you don't have to stick to creating a card, we welcome any creation as long as it fits within the theme.  Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simply Create Too - It's Spring
Totally Gorjuss - Spring
Little Claires - Spring

Thanks for popping by.

Things are looking Grimm

Morning Folks
Things are looking grimm over at Corrosive Challenges this fortnight but in the nicest possible way.  This time around we would like to see your creations inspired by fairy tales, fables or children's stories.
Our sponsor for March is Sassy Studio designs and they have some wonderful images.  I chose to use Snow White from their Little Honey range and isn't she adorable.

I coloured her in with promarkers and cut her out.  I made a mock mirror using one of my dies and backed with mirror card (how difficult is it to photograph mirror card).  I also found some paper in my scraps that had little apples on it, so I cut three of these out and put them on the lace.  A few flowers, gems and a metal corner finished it off a treat.
So what are you waiting for.  Dont forget to tell us in your blog post which book, story, fable or fairy tale your creation has been inspired by.  Looking forward to seeing all your creations.  Why not pop over to Corrosive Challenges and check out the work of the rest of the talented design team.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Celebrate the Occasion - any occasion but must use metal
Digi Doodle - People
Allsorts - Three in a row (flowers, apples)
Crafty Creations - Mother Goose and friends

Thanks for popping by.

You are my sunshine

Hi Folks
At last it's the weekend although my Saturday is swiftly running away from me.  Had a few chores and errands to run this morning.  Have now just got back from the hairdresser's as we are going to a 50th Wedding Anniversary party tonight.  So thought I had better post my card for today and do a bit of blogging before I have to get ready.
I have made this card for the freebie challenge over at Dude Time Doodles.  They supply the image and the winner of the challenge gets to be guest designer for the following month.  This image is called Forever Friends and the card has been created for any young lady to give to her young man.

I decided to stick to a colour theme of mainly green (as it seems to be quite topical at the moment) with backing card of bright yellow.  All the papers used were from my scraps box - trying to be good and use some of them up.  As it is a male card I decided not to use ribbon but instead used some brown cord that I had in my ribbon box.  Added some lovely buttons as embellishments.  I did also chalk some blue clouds onto the image but you can't see them very well, if at all.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Dude Time Doodles - freebie challenges
Sketch Saturday - use sketch provided
Sentimental Sundays - Go greeen or recycle
Pile It On - St Patricks Day or shades of green
Kaboodle Doodles - Show us some green
Simon Says - A bit of green
Sassy Studio - Monochromatic
Totally Papercrafts - Male card
Crazy 4 Challenges - Use some green
Card Makin Mamas - Buttons
Sweet Stampin - Use lots of green

Thanks for popping by.  Just time to do a bit of blogging before I get ready to go out.  Will be back tomorrow with some DT cards for new challenges at Dream Valley and Corrosive.
Take care

50th Wedding Anniversary

Evening Folks
This is my second post for today.  Please scroll down for my Penny's Paper-Crafty DT card.
Hope you are all well.  Been a bit of a funny day today.  Spent the morning at work which was quite exhausing as very busy at the moment.  Then came home at lunchtime and spent some time in my crafty room.  Didn't get much done as most of my time was spent doing inserts, envelopes and boxes for cards already made. However hard I try I always end up with a huge pile of cards needing the finishing touches.  Will just have to try harder lol.
I was also pleased to be awarded a Top 3 in the challenge over at Dude Time Doodles last week.  I so love their images.
Did manage to get one card done.  We are going to a 50th Wedding Anniversary party on Saturday for my hubby's Aunty and Uncle.  So it was getting quite urgent that I got a card done.

The lovely stamp with the doves on is a Stampavie one by Penny Johnson called Chanson D'Amour.  I stamped it and then heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder.  I mounted it on a Spellbinders die which I also heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  I embossed a piece of white card using my big shot.  I used a cuttlebug folder that I have with script.  The butterflies are a Marianne Creatables die set that I have recently purchased.  The rose and leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Dieing for a challenge - Anything goes
Little Claires - Romance
Crafty Sentiments - Things with wings
Whimsy Stamps - Embossing

Thanks for popping by and hope to see you all again soon.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day at work.
Take care

I was fortunate enough to be able to use an image from Robyn's Fetish and here is what I created.

The image was coloured in promarkers and matted onto some lovely bright yellow card.  The two backing papers are from First Edition and are so lovely.  For my ribbon I used some blue satin across the centre of the card.  Hopefully you will have spotted that I used my three buttons as the flower centres on the image.  To finish off I added some flowers and butterflies from my stash.

The challenge lasts for two weeks and can't wait to see what you come up with.  There is also a DT call alongside this challenge so why not pop over and check it out.

For a special lady

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well this evening.  Well after a super sunny day yesterday the weather was a bit disappointing today. Very grey and overcast all day. Still, I suppose we are still only in March so can't expect too much.  At least there was no rain.  Had the usual Monday morning blues this morning and really didn't want to get up for work lol.  Still, needs must, my crafting habit won't pay for itself lol.
Today's card has been made for a friend whose birthday is at the weekend.  She is such a lovely bubbly person and likes anything bright and girly.

Went for something a bit different today and didn't use a stamped image.  Instead I used an image of a shoe that had been printed onto acetate.  I then glued glitter onto the back of the acetate.  As long as you use clear drying glue then when the glue dries you just see the lovely glitter.  Looks really effective.  The acetate image is one I picked up at a craft show.  The company is Glitter Greetings and they do some fab images on acetate.  You can also buy the glitter and glue from there too.
The background paper is from my scraps box so not sure now where I got it from originally.  Used silver mirror card for the matting and layering.  Finishing touches such as the ribbon and bow, feather and gems added to the girly feel.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Paper Sundaes - Feminine Flair
Love to Create - About the ladies
Pan Pastel - Girly/Mothers Day
Simon Says - Mothers Day or Special Girl

Thanks for popping by and hope to see you again soon.  Thanks to all my followers for your continuing support and encouragement.

Mothers Day

Evening Folks
This is my second post for today.  Spent a lovely morning at one of my local craft shops - Sir Stampalot.  They had a demo day and had the lovely Claire from Molly Blooms demonstrating.  Of course, a few things just had to fall into my basket lol.  Then spent the afternoon with my youngest daughter who is home from uni for the weekend to celebrate a friends birthday.  Did get a bit of crafty time towards late afternoon.
For todays card I have used some gorgeous flower stamps from Little Claire's to create a Mothers Day card.

I made an easel card which I really love.  Used pink and purple as the colour combo.

Used purple coredinations card and matted a piece of pink backing paper onto it. I punched round the pink paper to give a lacy effect.  Although you can't see it in the photo the pink paper has lots of lovely pink flowers on it that match the main image.  The image is a Little Claires stamp set called Gerbera.  The large and small flowers were coloured in promarkers.  I added glitter and a brad to the large flower and little mini buttons to the centre of the corner flowers.  I had some flower shaped buttons which I added to the corners and some lovely bows for each side.  You can just see it but I also added some ribbon behind the image panel.

For the stopper of the card I used some coredinations card topped with lace, ribbon and a sentiment. I stamped the sentiment and then cut it out using one of my dies.  I also added a punched butterfly and lots of gems.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Scrapbook Sisters - Mothers Day
Lothian Crafts Online - use 2 main colours (pink and purple)
Hooked On Craft - More than one fold
I Love Promarkers - Ribbons and Bows
Moving Along With The Times - Cute as a button
Little Miss Muffet - Easel, Shaped or Step card
Crafty Catz - Mothers Day or Special Lady
Totally Papercrafts - Favourite Things (Purple, glitter, gems, butterfly)
Allsorts - Say it with flowers
One Stop - Mothers Day with ribbon
Simon Says Stamp - Mothers Day or special girl
Hotshot Crafts - Ribbon
Papertake - Anything goes
Totally Gorjuss - Anything goes with a button

Before I go just thought I would give you a peek at my two favourite girls ready for their night out.  They are both sisters and best friends to each other and I am so proud of them.

Thanks for popping by.  Off now to do some hopping around blogland.
Take care

A super award

This evening I was surprised and delighted to be nominated for the Versatile Blogger award by two lovely ladies,  Kate from Downrightcrafty and Velma from Snowflakes1.

Now as always this award comes with its rules, so here we go
"If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.
  •  Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  •  Include a link to their blog.
  •  Select 15 blogs that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. Now as always that is such a hard task.
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award .
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
It was very difficult choosing just 15 blogs to pass this award onto.  All the blogs I follow inspire me in so many different ways.  But this is the list that I came up with.

And here are the seven things about me.
My favourite flower is the Lily (any type, any colour)
I have 4 tattoos
I have run in two London marathons
My favourite author is Stephen King
I have seen Meat Loaf in concert five times
I don't do cooking (my hubby does all the cooking in our house and wonderful it is too)
I love hot chocolate made with hot milk and have to have a cup every day

Thanks again to Kate and Velma for the award.  Better go and do some visiting now to pass on the award

Spring Has Sprung

Evening Folks
Hope you are all well.  Been a bit of a funny day for weather today.  Heavy rain showers, wind,  and a touch of sunshine thrown in for good measure.  Be glad when summer arrives - well, if it does.  Not sure the summer sunshine knows where the UK is lol.
Sorry for the lateness of this post but this full time working does get in the way of my crafting time.

Used lots of bright spring time colours for this creation.  This tulip image has been in my stash since the beginning of last year.  It actually came as a decoupage image but I have just used the bottom layer.  I love tulips and this image just sang springtime to me. I matted it onto coredinations cardstock which I just love.  The papers are all from Papermania and I just love them.  Used some lace and ribbon across the centre of the card and topped it with a yummy bow.  Finishing touches were the butterfly (Mariannes die), a die cut swirl (Mariannes), some little flowers and lots of pearls.  I also added a little butterfly charm dangling from the bow.
Here is another photo of the bottom corner:

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Catz - Punches or Dies
Kaboodle Doodles - Think spring
Pollycraft - Spring has sprung
The Stamping Boutique - Pearls and Swirls
Papertake - Anything goes

Dream Valley

Hi Folks
Hope you are all having a good weekend.  We have spent the weekend visiting my sister and her hubby.  Had  a lovely weekend and love seeing my two nephews.  Luckily I was able to use the internet so have tried to do some commenting.
It is time for a new challenge over at Dream Valley Challenges.  We have two sponsors this fortnight.
One Stop Card Crafts who have generously offered a gift voucher for their online store.

and
Crafty Ribbons who have generously offered a Bev Bag Selection.

The challenge theme this fortnight is Mothers Day.  Quite an easy one I think and very topical at the moment.  It is Mothers Day in the UK on March 18th.
Here is my card which was commissioned by my sister for her mother-in-law.
This is actually a fold back card.  The image and papers are from Hunkydory (I think).  Matted and layered using purple card.  I punched a couple of butterflies and added a rose from WOC, some ribbon, gems and a sentiment.  This was a fairly quick card to do as no stamping and colouring but love the way it came out.
Here is another view:

Hope you will pop over to Dream Valley and check out the work of the rest of the design team.  They are all very talented.  You have a fortnight to enter the challenge and looking forward to seeing all your wonderful creations.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Crafty Ribbons - Celebrate your mum
Simon Says - Anything goes
CES Challenges - Flower Frenzy
Allsorts - Spread your wings
Gem of a Challenge - Perfect Pastels
Crazy 4 Challenges - Fun folds

Corrosive Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and having a good weekend.  We have spent a lovely weekend visiting my sister and her hubby.  So I have had a nice restful weekend and loved spending some time with my two nephews.  Just waiting for roast beef dinner now yum, yum.
Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Corrosive Challenges.  Our sponsor for the month of March is Sassy Studio Designs who are generously offering the winner 4 digis of their choice from the store.

So onto the theme of this fortnights challenge - Give Piece a Chance.  What we are looking for is some paper piecing on your project.  Also, as St Patricks Day is coming up we have a bonus challenge to use lots of green on your project.  Anyone who does will receive an extra entry into the draw.
The design team were generously given some images to use from Sassy Studio Designs and I chose the lovely Country Donna.

The papers I used were some that I have had in my paper box for quite a while.  They were some that I received free in a magazine some time ago.  I used the same papers to paper piece the clothes on the image. I also paper pieced her hat.  The photo really does not do the card justice. The colours are so much brighter in real life.  Think I may need to invest in some decent lighting for taking photos.
You have a fortnight to submit your entries for the challenge.  Why not pop over to Corrosive Challenges and check out the rest of the fabulous work from the design team.  Looking forward to seeing your entries.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Papertake - use sketch
Whimsy Stamps - Paper piecing
Digi Doodle - Pink and green
Divas By Design - Spots and/or stripes
Creative Inspirations - Anything goes
Polka Doodles - Polkadots and/or stripes
Catch The Bug - Anything goes
Pile It On - Spots and/or stripes

Thanks for popping by and take care.

Let's Ink It Up

Hi Folks
Today is the start of the new challenge over at Let's Ink It Up.  It is also my first posting there as a new design team member. Thanks to everyone who left me some love following my announcement earlier in the week.
This month's challenge is titled Show Us Your Flowers.  We would like to see some flowers on your creations, they can be shop bought or home made - whatever takes your fancy.  Our sponsor this month is our lovely leader Suzanne who has put together a great prize package.

I have used a super stamp from Crafters Companion, part of the Popcorn Bear series of images. Coloured with promarkers and matted onto coredinations.  The papers used are from Papermania and so spring like.  The flower in the corner was made using one of the Spellbinder dies and I added one of my little home made rolled roses to the centre.  Also used some Spellbinder leaves.  Final touches were some buttons (had some lovely flower ones), some gems, ribbon and a little sentiment.

Hope you will pop over to the challenge blog and show some love to the rest of the design team.  The challenge lasts for one month so you have plenty of time to get your entries in.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
I Love Promarkers - use sketch
Scrapbook Sisters - Spring flowers
Divas By Design - Spots and/or stripes
Delightful Challenges - Spring colours
Aud Sentiments - Happy Birthday
Cute Card Thursday - Signs of spring
Paperplay - Something old (papers), something new (stamp)
Crafters Companion - Spring (using Crafters Companion stamp)
